Much ado about everything

There has been a lot of media coverage about SOPA, (Stop On line Piracy Act), lately. I'm sorry to say that both local television stations in Wichita Falls, TX, KFDX Channel 3 and KAUZ TV Channel 6, support this bill as written.

I disagree with this bill because it would have made me a crimminal using the on-line media as I do to cover my articles in the various places I write from if someone accuses me of copyright infringement. According to one on-line article, I would have five days to correct the problem or face among all things a shut down. Like the smaller start up web sites, I don't have access to big time lawyers like the well known big wigs Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, etc. With the exception of HubPages, who thought my article, Fight for ramp an uphill battle, bordered on copyright infringement, no one ever complained about my articles being duplicated or plagiarized. Had they looked on YourHub.com, they wouldn't have found the article mentioned before because the site was under litigation for being a duplicate of another site with a similar name spelled YerHub.com in 2007 or 2008. Back then, Yh was regionalized, Texas being in the Southeast region. We also had a hard copy of the articles printed on line in newspaper form. The article I wrote showed up on the bottom half of the front page in January 2008 complete with before and after pictures. Now it hails out of Colorado and is a subsidiary of The Denver Post.

All of the sites I write for have zero tolerance for plagiarism or copyright infringement. HP stated before any article was pubished that any attempt to duplicate any/thing or any particiopation in copyright infringement will be removed. I figured my blog was a safer place to put that artocle inspite of the cloud it created on my homepage. The Examiner.com preferred that its writers use hyperlinks in their articles to reference their information. YahooVoices allows for both hyperlinks and citation of sources or reference to a published or unpublished source (not always the original source). More precisely, a citation is an abbreviated alphanumeric expression (e.g. [Newell84]) embedded in the body of an intellectual work that denotes an entry in the bibliographic references section of the work for the purpose of acknowledging the relevance of the works of others to the topic of discussion at the spot where the citation appears.

 Uproar over wording:

Because they believe SOPA and PIPA are so ambiguously worded that they hold the power to usher in unprecedented censorship online, stifle online innovation, and even "break the Internet" by allowing (or requiring) Internet service providers to tamper with the domain name system (DNS), the underlying architecture of the Internet. Supporters of these bills say all of these concerns are completely unfounded.

Neither one of our Texas Republican state Senators supported this bill . Sen. John Cornyn, R- Texas, posted on his Facebook page that Congress should’ve reconsidered the bills. He said while stealing content was theft, “ concerns about unintended damage to the internet and innovation in the tech sector required a more thoughtful balance, which would take more time.” Thornberry, whose district covered Wichita Falls and much of the adjacent region, opposed the proposal in its current form even before the protest.

At any rate, SOPA has been well covered by LinkedIn, YahooVoices, and The Examiner. To read more just type in the word SOPA. By the way, as of this printing, the bill is delayed, not necessarily dead.

The Night Drop Vandal

In late spring of 2008, my American Express card was "compromised" someone unauthorized bought a Dell computer for $655. In December of that year, I found a virus, a TrojanDownloader.PsmyeIV on my computer hard drive on one of the programs removed but still accessible. This spyware program acted like a duplicator, copying everyone's e-mail address in the header, including those in the CC and BCC line and everyone in my AOL address book. In 2010, someone decided to charge an extra $14.95 for something called Photocubbie to my AT&T land-line account. Now, the management at my apartment complex informed me yesterday that the Drop Box where I placed my rent on January 3, was vandalized. The assistant manager showed me the lid, similar to the regular mailbox I had, similar to the second picture,  that covered the slot, was broken off and missing, like the first picture. I still felt violated because my check was one of five missing. I never wait until the sixth day of the month to pay rent because of late fees. The thief couldn't cash these stolen checks, because they all had the apartment name on them. They were looking for money orders or checks that had a blank "Pay to the order of" space. The management does not except cash.

Not only does the thief have my name, location and phone number of myself and my bank, and those of four other people but they also have the routing number and my account number on the check they stole. All the bank did was issue a "stop payment" on the January 3 check and mail me a form to sign and return in 14 days or the order gets removed. I don't have a credit card or a debit card form the bank. With all the credit cards I have now a debit card was foolhardy. I'm sure that the safety features for plastic cards are similar to the credit card companies..Because this happened to me instead of being caused by me, the bank didn't charge me a fee.

The only scripture I could remember came from Luke 6:28. This also has other parallel verses too, like Matthew 5:44, Luke 6:35, Romans 12:14, 1 Corinthians 4:12,1Peter 3:9 NIV. Romans 12:19 "Vengeance is mine sayeth the Lord." NIV. Here are more scriptures on the subject:
Leviticus 19:18 "'Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against one of your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD.
Deuteronomy 32:35 It is mine to avenge; I will repay. In due time their foot will slip; their day of disaster is near and their doom rushes upon them."
1 Samuel 26:10 As surely as the LORD lives," he said, "the LORD himself will strike him; either his time will come and he will die, or he will go into battle and perish.
1 Samuel 26:11 But the LORD forbid that I should lay a hand on the LORD's anointed. Now get the spear and water jug that are near his head, and let's go."
Psalm 94:1 O LORD, the God who avenges, O God who avenges, shine forth.
Proverbs 20:22 Do not say, "I'll pay you back for this wrong!" Wait for the LORD, and he will deliver you.
Proverbs 24:29 Do not say, "I'll do to him as he has done to me; I'll pay that man back for what he did."
Jeremiah 51:36 Therefore, this is what the LORD says: "See, I will defend your cause and avenge you; I will dry up her sea and make her springs dry.
Romans 12:17 Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody.
Ephesians 4:27 and do not give the devil a foothold.
1 Thessalonians 4:6 and that in this matter no one should wrong his brother or take advantage of him. The Lord will punish men for all such sins, as we have already told you and warned you.
2 Timothy 4:14 Alexander the metalworker did me a great deal of harm. The Lord will repay him for what he has done.
Hebrews 10:30 For we know him who said, "It is mine to avenge; I will repay," and again, "The Lord will judge his people."

Either way, I'm gong to pray for this thief.
